Coming Soon…
Hello, world!

Hi, I’m Chris.

I’ve decided to level up my skills in AI, cloud, and more—things I’ve seen in job descriptions, but I haven't had a chance to use professionally yet. I intend to document my journey so you can come along and learn with me.

In addition to all those skills, I'm also figuring out blogging, social media, video production, home lab infrastructure, and more.

AI

There are so many things to figure out right now:

  • Agentic software development
  • Agentic identity
  • Context and prompt engineering
  • Costs and prompt / context efficiency
  • Data protection (especially company proprietary data, personally identifiable information, and personal health information)
  • Running models locally
  • And so much more is being discovered every day...

Cloud

Cloud skills seem to be even more in-demand than they’ve ever been.

  • Kubernetes (both local and in cloud services like EKS (Amazon AWS), AKS (Microsoft Azure), and GKE (Google GCP).
  • AWS / Azure / GCP:
    • Understand the services, when to choose them, when to choose something else. There are concepts like block storage vs. SQL vs. NoSQL, which are independent of a specific implementation, but understanding specific offerings from specific vendors is also useful.
    • Understand how to configure the services.
  • Infrastructure-as-code: Terraform, etc. scripts to deploy software to Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, GCP.

Home Lab

Skills to build local infrastructure as a playground for working out concepts before spending money on AWS, etc.

  • Local Kubernetes
  • Local ProxMox
  • Networking (beyond just the basics)
  • What is possible with AI models that can run locally?

Social Media

How do I leverage social media to build an audience?

  • What are the different social media environments, and which are most appropriate for this project?
  • What are the “rules” to succeed in each of the social media environments?
